I was educated at the Graham Sea Training School in Scarborough from the age of 11 years old and Trinity House Navigation School in Hull prior to joining The Cunard Steamship Co. as a deepsea Navigation/ Deck Officer , after leaving the sea i continued my education to obtain a Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering specialising in Radio Communications at Leeds Polytechnic.
Following employment with the Ministry of Defence (MOD) , the Admiralty Underwater Weapons Establishment , Portland (AUWE) , STC Defence Systems Division and other Government Communications related work I eventually gained recognition by Professional Chartered Electrical Engineering Institute qualifications MIEEIE. & IEng.
I decided to start my own business trading as Danby Satellite & Aerials in 1996 .
Afer passing my Amateur Radio Exam I became one of the countries youngest fully licensed radio transmitting amateurs in the UK at 14 years of age , formally Class B UK Radiostation Callsign G8KFH and after passing the Official Morse Code test became a Full Class A Radio Amateur UK Radiostation Callsign G0KGA , I am also a SETI member in a worldwide space network where advanced radio experimenters look at interesting deep space radio noise , i have always had an interest in radio astronomy .
My interests include yachting which i am qualified to RYA Yachtmaster standard and i have a yacht moored on the new marina at Scarborough . I am currently extending my maritime qualifications to include professional RYA Commercial Yachtmaster and MCA Commercial Shipping Licences to enable part time employment in the offshore industries.
