High Quality Aerial Systems

There are two types of aerials used on domestic houses around the country for the reception of TV

The first being a contract aerial which is a cheap metal based lower quality aerial which can cost approx £5 and however can in some locations provide a suitable level of signal .   ( We do not provide these ).

The second being a High Quality Aerial as supplied by us , however they cost more and are well made .  One of the characteristics of these aerials is a  ' balun ' which is added to the dipole element to improve the impedance matching of the cable , this factor together with the remaining calculated aerial characteristics provides a good signal with good rejection of unwanted signals. These aerials have a good sized backplane and require a good pole support.

All chimney or wall fittings used by us are galvanised (not cheap painted which go rusty after 6 months) , we utilise steel galvanised poles for strength and not the cheaper aluminium poles which can bend in high wind conditions.

Prior to a written priced quotation being supplied to a customer ,a detailed site survey is carried out with a RF Spectrum Analyser  to confirm what aerials & equipment may be required in order to achieve a nominal 70 dbuV signal level for analogue signals. For the reception of digital signals the quality of the digital multiplexes is an important factor ,we are able to determine this information with a RF Spectrum Analyser .

Another important signal measurement is the C/N ratio (db) which requires a minimum figure of 44 db for analogue terrestrial TV and 19 - 26 db  (depending on multipath reflections) for Terrestrial Digital signals (19db is a theoretical figure only)

For Terrestrial Digital signals a Bit Error Rate of 2 in 10-4 (2E-10) is required for reliable operation of a single domestic DTT reception systen.

A state of the art RF Spectrum Analyser is utilised during all site surveys and installations to test the RF signal level & signal quality, in the case of digital signals the Bit Error Rate will also be accessed to give optimum performance.

We have a wide experience of helping out in problem areas when signal quality is impaired due to multiple reflections caused by forests and the hills & valleys of North Yorkshire, with our extensive test equipment we can quickly evaluate if existing aerials can receive the Terrestrial Digital signals, what upgrades are needed or if only part signals will be obtainable .

We have extensive experience  with all types of building types and undertake specialist work on listed buildings , thatched properties , slate roofs , high quality houses , etc.

All cabling used is double screened to help reduce noise in the aerial system , grouped aerials are used with correct grouped masthead amplifiers( if req) and cables are clipped in a tidy appearance.

Other Aspects of Aerial work undertaken

We utilise roof ladders at all times

All outside holes are sealed

Remove all old aerials / fittings / cables from site

Remove shoes when entering buildings

Hoover up where working after completing work

Danby Satellite & Aerials can  provide consultancy and professional advice for  larger digital multipoint systems, MATV or SMATV, please call for further information.

Being a registered company we are insurance company approved and we are happy to undertake insurance work both domestic & commercial
